nPZero 2100

Overview

The nPZero 2100 power-saving IC targets power-constrained sensor applications, reducing system power by autonomously managing sensor communication and selectively powering up the MCU and sensors only when needed.

It offers a similar feature set to the nPZero G1S while adding a number of new features in order to handle more complex use cases and a wider range of sensors.

Key Benefits

  • Reduce power consumption by up to 90%
  • Power the MCU and sensors only when needed
  • Handle sensors autonomously without an active MCU
  • Compatible with a wide range of MCU's and I²C or SPI-based sensors

Main Features

  • Ultra-low-power standalone operation
    • The nPZero IC wakes up the MCU only when required
  • Autonomous management of up to 6 sensors
    • Polling of sensors with threshold-based wake-up triggers
    • Communication over I²C or SPI
    • Flexible I/O pins for interrupt inputs or trigger outputs
  • Integrated power switches for MCU and sensors
    • Power devices directly or control external switches for higher currents
  • Power-aware operation for energy-harvesting
    • Reduces sensor polling frequency and MCU wake-ups when system power levels are low
  • 256-byte SRAM
    • Initialization commands for sensors
    • Logging of sensor values
    • General purpose user data
  • Internal crystal oscillator
    • Improved timing accuracy with optional 32.768 kHz crystal
  • 36-bit time counter with alarm and watchdog
    • Keeps track of time and wake-ups at a specified alarm
    • Watchdog can power-cycle MCU after certain time
  • General purpose event counter
    • 32-bit counter for input pin or sensor power-on events
  • 8-bit ADC
    • Three channel ADC ( 2 external pins, 1 internal connected to the supply voltage )
